SUNFEST

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Every year near the Autumnal Equinox Ocean City attempted to prolong its season with a festival of Beer, food and music and beer to keep within its self marketing structure as a family resort. This was the tenth Sunfest in Ocean City I was going to be around for and I wanted it to be the last. Iris was getting old and I had about had it with driving around handling heavy bottles. I had spent enough money on the production and the other enjoyable distractions that I knew it wouldn’t be an easy winter. And there was still a lot of work to do on the video: designing, duplicating, packaging, marketing and just plain keeping track of everything. Professor had spoken with a colleague in the University Business School and was told that I shouldn’t expect any money. In the meantime I knew I could expect very little help besides advice on what I should be doing and usually it wasn’t what I was doing. I really had burnt out on the DELMARVA PENINSULA and I needed to escape. I passed around Norman Iland screen plays whenever I had the opportunity, even to people who claimed to be in the business, and the novel, but I was the cliché waterguy with the screen play and novel in his back pocket. TAKE A BITE OF THE APPLE had been panned by the CITY THAT READS because some blue haired lady thought it was a slap in the face to some god and a sign of rebelliousness. Professor didn’t like the name “Take a Bite Productions” because he feared some people would be offended by “BITE” thinking it meant “BITE IT!” I heard his wife speaking there who was all about appearing dignified.
I began to press Mr. J the Mountain Valley Regional distributor that it was time for me to go and my 500 accounts must be worth something. After all it was his territory even though I was selling four times as much of the Diamond as the Mountain Valley but over three hundred of my accounts took Mountain Valley in one form or another. Even though there was always the hand that reached out to keep me from drowning it was no longer enough to tread water.
I acquired an 800 number for the tai-chi video:
800-tai-chi1
I soon changed the name of the video to TAI-CHI-ONE.
